Me sale «New panes need access».

¿Me pasa algo?

To save a round trip, include your iPhone model, your iOS version, which pane and in which size, and which watch or scale writes to Health. A screenshot helps a lot — cover up any number you'd rather not share; the problem is hardly ever the number. I usually reply within two or three days.

Common questions

A pane is empty.

Almost always one of two things. One: that type's permission is off — check Health → Sharing → Apps → VitalPane. iOS never tells an app what you declined, so VitalPane can't warn you; it just sees nothing arrive. Two: there's no data of that type in Health. HRV, recovery rate, overnight vitals, sleep stages and VO₂ max need an Apple Watch (or something that writes them), and body fat needs a scale that measures it.

I granted access and nothing shows.

Open Health → Sharing → Apps → VitalPane and check the switches are on. If you turned them off on the first sheet, the app can't show you that sheet again: they're switched on from there. Then open VitalPane and tap the refresh arrow at the top right.

It says "New panes need access".

An update brought a pane that reads something you weren't asked about. Tap "Choose in Health", allow what you like, and whatever you don't simply stays empty. Nothing else changes.

How do I add a widget?

Home Screen: touch and hold an empty spot → EditAdd Widget → VitalPane, then pick a pane and a size. Lock Screen: touch and hold it → CustomizeLock Screen, and tap the widget area. Control Centre: swipe down from the top right → +Add a Control → VitalPane, and choose the pane. The same control can go on the Action Button.

I can't find a pane in the size I want.

Not every pane fits every size, and I'd rather not offer one that doesn't: a year's chart can't be read in a small widget. In the app, the size picker at the top shows only the panes that exist in that size, drawn at their real size.

The widget isn't updating.

When Health receives weight, sleep, heart rate or a workout, iOS wakes VitalPane and the widgets redraw. But iOS decides when, and it throttles hard in Low Power Mode and right after a restart, until the phone is unlocked once. Open the app and everything catches up. If it stays stale for more than a day with the phone in normal use, tell me.

A date shows under a widget.

On purpose: it means that pane's number is old for what it measures. Six days off the scale doesn't put a date under your weight, but a step count with nothing since yesterday does. It usually means the watch hasn't synced.

Why does "last 7 days" show dates from weeks ago?

Because it's your last seven weigh-ins, not the last seven dates. Hardly anyone weighs in daily, and seven calendar days would be mostly gaps.

I sleep with two trackers and the hours don't match.

For the total, VitalPane merges everything your devices record without counting the same stretch twice: if a watch and a ring see the same night, it counts once. For stages it picks the one with the fullest night, because stitching two hypnograms together invents a night neither of them saw. So the total may not match what any single one of them says.

Weight shows in pounds (or kilos) and I want the other.

VitalPane uses the unit set in Health. Change it under Health → Browse → Body Measurements → Weight → Unit, open VitalPane, and the widgets follow.

How do I set or clear a goal weight?

With the settings button at the top left: type the weight and tap "Set goal". Up or down, it doesn't mind which. Clear it in the same place with "Clear goal". It's optional and nothing in the app asks for it.

It says my heart rate is "higher than usual". Is something wrong?

VitalPane compares with your own history, not with a medical standard, and an odd day after poor sleep, a hard session or coffee is ordinary. It isn't an alert or a diagnosis. If something worries you, talk to your doctor.

Does the app write to or delete anything in Health?

No. It only reads, and doesn't even have permission to write.

Is there a subscription or in-app purchase?

No. It's free, all of it, and there's no advertising.
