VitalPane

You already have the Health app for browsing your data. What Health can't do is put a number where you'll see it without opening anything. VitalPane does: pick the pane you'd actually look at — your weight, your steps by this hour, last night's sleep, your resting heart rate —, add it as a widget, and it updates itself whenever a new reading arrives.
What it does
- Twenty-eight panes in four groups — weight, moving, heart and sleep —, each as a small, medium or large widget.
- Weight that makes sense: this week's average against last week's, where the last month puts you if nothing changes, the whole year month by month, body fat, and what you eat against what you burn.
- "Last 7 days" means seven weigh-ins, not seven dates. Nobody weighs in daily, and a week of gaps reads as though you gave up.
- Moving, by this hour: steps and energy so far against what you usually have by now, which weekday you really move, hours on your feet, workouts and personal bests.
- Heart, against your own normal: resting heart rate, HRV, VO₂ max, recovery after effort, and overnight vitals — breathing, wrist temperature and blood oxygen —, each compared with you, not with a chart.
- Sleep: last night, the stages, when your nights start and end, how much of your time in bed you slept, a fortnight's sleep debt, and what the weekend does to it.
- Lock Screen, Control Centre and the Action Button: any pane in a line, or as a control that opens on its own pane.
- Every widget says how old its number is. Six days off the scale is nothing; a step count stuck since yesterday is something.
- A goal, if you want one. Optional, behind a button: it turns "at this rate" into a date, up or down. Nothing nags for it.
- It updates itself. When Health gets a new reading, iOS wakes VitalPane and the widgets catch up without you opening the app.
What leaves your iPhone
Nothing. VitalPane has no servers, no accounts and no network access: there isn't a line in the app that talks to the internet.
| What | Where it stays |
|---|---|
| The Health data you allow it to read | On your iPhone. The app reads it, draws the panes, and leaves the result in a file only the app and its widgets can see. |
| Your goal weight and your daily exercise floor | On your iPhone, in the same space shared with the widgets. |
Read only. VitalPane writes nothing to Health and has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDK — Apple frameworks only. Your health data is not sold, not shared, and never leaves the phone.
The privacy policy covers it in full, data type by data type.
Not medical advice
VitalPane shows what is already in Health and how it compares with your own history. It does not diagnose or treat anything and is no substitute for a health professional, and "higher than usual" is a comparison, not an alarm. If something about your health worries you, talk to your doctor.
